tattoo needles and piercing nedles are made out of implant grade surgical grade steel. and as long as the jewery they put in is the same grade of steel you should be ok. but the body sometimes rejects the piercing expecially if it is a surface piercing

QUOTE(sickthing @ Nov 7 2006, 03:54 PM)
From what I understand, there are a lot of people who have problems with pure silver.  I think that most tattoo needles are stainless steel, but I couldn't tell you whether or not there is usually nickel or zinc in stainless.  I don't think so.  You said that you checked on that right?  What did you find out?  I'm sure that my friend Jamie would know too.
*

he told me the needle was surgerical steel. there is nickel in stainless steel but the way the stainless steel is made the nickel molocules are deep inside and have no contact with anything that touches it. so the majority of people with nickel allergies are not allergic to stainless steel. my watch is stainless steel and it doesn't bother me.

Thanks, man!  I figured it would be expensive to get something done by one of them.  So there are additional artists there who are not on the show?  That just seems weird.
*

Pretty much the whole shop is for television, it has been a couple of months since I was down there but only the artists from the show were there since they were filming a segment at the time. To answer your question they have 4 or 5 additional artists that are not on the show that normally do a tattoo. I know it's weird to me too.

There are so many talented artists out there, I really don't think that I could narrow it down to one in particular that I'd want work from.

I'm so jealous. My wife got a new tattoo yesterday and it looks awesome. She decided on a native american themed snake tattoo for her lower back and Jamie did an awesome job on it! It's not entirely finished since they were didn't have a lot of time, but it only needs some shading and one small detail finished. I'll post a pic when it's done.

I need to figure out now what I want next, since my wife is going to get me one for Christmas. Hmm, so much skin, so many options.

here are my tattoos. my bf and i were bored last night and playing with the digital camera.
this one is on my left upper arm
(IMG:http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c263/mistress_amalthea/tattoo2.jpg)
this one is on my right shoulder blade
(IMG:http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c263/mistress_amalthea/IMG_1244.jpg)

i'm going to get another one in may. a dragon on my left shoulder blade. i'm trying to find the right design. i don't want a chinese dragon or a cartoony dragon. and i don't want it too big since it'll be across from the unicorn which is only about 5 or 6cm high. (thats about 2-2 1/2 inches for you folks)

like it.

my bf and i are looking around and pricing for tattoos. our 1 year is coming up so we're getting tattoos to celebrate. and no, we are not getting each others names or matching tattoos. that's a sure way to jinx a relationship. the act of getting tattoos together is enough for us.

If you happen to be close to the Ohio border one day, stop into In the Flesh tattoos in Defiance. Jamie would do a really good job covering that up for you and he doesn't charge much. This is my anhk which also happens to be a cover-up, probably bigger than what you would want, and it only cost me $100.
(IMG:http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i29/sickthing/anhktat.jpg)
Those faint lines you can see in the picture are barely visible in person and were moreso the product of me wanting something specific in that space that wouldn't cover those lines than it was him not coming up with something that would cover them. You'd be surprised by how much actually got covered.

I know it kind of sucks anyway, but I really just want it covered up with a larger one. There is something I want on my other shoulder but I also want them to be balanced.

I just can't justify saving up money and spending it on that, someone always needs shoes or clothes or food around here...lol

Hmm, good point!! :D Who needs shoes in the summertime anyway? No kid needs anything but sandals until school starts up! :P Alright, alright, essentials come before ink, which is why I set aside just a few bucks a week for things like tattoos or a day at Cedar Point, etc. Change jars are wonderful ways to save money!! :)

Unfortunately at daycare they have to wear shoes all year round, they're not allowed to wear sandals.

If I actually saved up the money for a new tattoo I would so wind up taking Nick out somewhere so I just don't really worry about it. And my "change jar" is also known as Nick's piggy bank.

those damn essentials. drew and i never ended up getting tattoos for our anniversary. we were going to pay for it out of my income tax refund but we decided to use the money on something we needed more...a new bed. our old one is a hand-me-down from my parents and before that a neighbour. it's all lumpy. that bed had to have been 20 years old. plus, the neighbour died in it, that's how my parents got it, so that ewww factor alone is enough reason to get a new bed. so alas, the tattoos will have to wait.

lol, I guess that's what my wife and I have done. He is a genuine friend of ours though, and we are always trying to help him bring in new customers.

Hmm, I have an idea for a big project that I'm going to need to talk to him about, but I don't know when I'll be able to afford it. I suppose that some of my tax refund could go to that, but there are more important (responsible) things that should be taken care of first.

Well, you should be, I think. I've been thinking for over a year now about what I want for my next tattoo and finally came up with something I'd like. That Alice tat that I have... well, I'm thinking about having it expanded into a full sleeve of Alice stuff worked into a snake skin background. There's a really cool pic of him hanging on back of the Killer album that I want included, along with a lot of other little stuff like the School's Out heart, the Billion Dollar Babies coin, etc. I don't know why, but I had the idea that having an arm done in snake scales would look pretty cool (just large enough so that they don't all blend later on) and went from there. Hmm, my wife's gonna love it, but my mom will be pissed! Damn, I'm nearly 36 and I still worry about that....

Anyway, even being good friends with the artist wont make a full sleeve cheap. Especially with all the detail I want.

lol, yeah I do. Not that it's going to stop me from getting a new tat, she's actually babysat my kids so that I could get some new ink before, but she's always going to have something to say about it. I'm just not big on conflict, not with someone I care about anyway. It was one thing when I was 16, doing things to intentionally get a rise out of her. Now I try to be conscious of whether I'm doing what I actually want, or if I'm just trying to shock people. The latter of the two would lose it's novelty quickly.

That's cool. I like Celtic knotting. I've seen pics of some remarkably elaborate knotwork designs. It's hard to imagine how somebody worked it all out in the first place!
